Anima Scaena

The Ad in Its Natural Habitat.

Scaena is in-context ad testing. It rebuilds the platform interface a respondent already knows, places the client's creative into a real placement inside it, and measures what they actually do. Not what they say they would do in a grid question, and not what they claim to remember afterwards. The soul's stage: a set built to look real, so the behaviour on it is real.

Nobody Watches an Ad in a Survey Grid

Conventional creative testing shows the respondent the ad, full-frame, with their full attention, and then asks them what they thought of it. Nothing about that resembles how the ad will actually be encountered: mid-scroll, at a quarter of the screen, competing with the content the person came for, with a skip button counting down.

So the test measures considered opinion about an advertisement. The campaign then lives or dies on unconsidered behaviour in a feed. Those two things are not the same measurement, and the gap between them is where media budget disappears.

Scaena closes the gap by moving the test into the environment. The respondent meets the creative where they would have met it, behaves as they would have behaved, and the encounter is measured while it happens.

Build the Set, Place the Creative, Measure the Encounter

The value is in the fidelity of the environment. If the set does not read as real, the behaviour on it is not real either, and the study measures nothing that transfers.

Realistic Platform Environments

Scaena rebuilds a platform interface closely enough that a respondent behaves as they would on the real thing: a video platform, a social feed, a short-form vertical, a retailer, a streaming service. The surrounding content, the pacing and the controls all read as familiar, because familiarity is precisely what produces unguarded behaviour.

Creative in a Real Placement

The client's asset is injected into a specific placement within that interface, in the position and format it would genuinely occupy. A pre-roll behaves like a pre-roll. An in-feed unit competes with the feed. The creative is tested in the slot it was made for, not in a vacuum.

Behavioural Measurement

The encounter is measured as it happens: viewability, dwell, whether the respondent skipped and how many seconds in, scroll behaviour, taps and clicks. These are observations of what someone did, which is a different and harder class of evidence than a recalled rating collected two screens later.

Exposed and Control Cells

Studies run exposed and control cells, so brand effects can be attributed rather than assumed. Without a control you can observe that exposed respondents differ; only with one can you argue the exposure caused it.

Clean Handoff Back to the Study

When the exposure is done, the respondent is handed back with eligibility and success flags, so the host study can route them onward without manual reconciliation. Scaena is a stage the respondent walks across, not a destination they get stranded in.

Scaena Is the Exposure Layer

It does not own the questionnaire, the panel, the weighting or the reporting. Those stay with whoever runs the study.

That boundary is deliberate rather than a limitation. It is the same line the incumbent draws, and it is what makes Scaena usable by agencies and research firms that already have panel and survey capability and have no intention of replacing either. Scaena slots into the study they already run.

One Engine, Two Directions

Scaena and the visual probe in Anima Mensura are the same primitive facing opposite ways. Both are stimulus in, measurement out. Both are mobile web surfaces another system deep-links into, and both hand the respondent back on the same contract.

Scaena: We Supply the Stimulus

The client's ad is injected into a rebuilt platform interface, and what gets measured is behaviour: viewability, dwell, skip and its timing, scroll, taps.

Mensura: The Respondent Supplies It

The respondent submits a photograph, questions are generated grounded in that specific image, and what gets measured is the stated response.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which environments can you build?

Video platforms, social feeds, short-form vertical formats, retailers and streaming services. The environment is built to match the placement being tested, so the right question at scoping is which placement the creative is actually buying.

Do you replace our panel or our survey tool?

No. Scaena is the exposure layer only. Your panel, questionnaire, weighting and reporting stay exactly where they are.

How do you attribute brand effects?

By running exposed and control cells within the same study, so the difference between them can be attributed to the exposure rather than assumed from it.

How does the respondent get in and out?

Another system deep-links them straight into the surface, which means the host study owns recruitment. When the exposure ends they are handed back with eligibility and success flags.
